Healing Mindz is a New York-licensed practice, and all TMS treatment takes place in person at our New City office. New Jersey residents are welcome to travel to us for care. Because our clinicians are licensed in New York, any telehealth follow-ups need to happen while you are physically located in New York State, so most Bergen patients simply keep their visits in person.
A TMS course for depression usually involves about 30 to 36 sessions over four to six weeks, with sessions of roughly 20 to 40 minutes. You stay awake and can drive yourself home. Our what to expect page explains a typical visit.
The first week of TMS is the busiest: sessions are daily, and the very first visit runs longer because the team maps the right spot on your scalp and finds your treatment strength. After that the visits settle into a routine. Patients from Bergen County usually make it work in one of a few ways:
If you already have a psychiatrist or therapist in New Jersey, you can keep them. With your permission we will share updates so everyone involved in your care knows how the course is going. For background on how TMS is used for treatment-resistant depression, see that page.
New Jersey plans vary in how they handle care received in New York, so we verify each plan individually before your first session rather than assuming coverage. Most major plans and Medicare cover TMS for major depression when their criteria are met. See TMS cost and insurance and our insurance page.
The same psychiatrist who evaluates you oversees your entire course, the office is open until 7 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays and on Saturday mornings, and for many northern Bergen towns the drive is comparable to staying in New Jersey. Some patients also simply prefer a smaller practice where the front desk recognizes them by the second week. TMS is a commitment of several weeks, and the place you do it should feel easy to walk into. If you live a little further north or west, our pages on TMS near Pearl River and TMS near Suffern describe routes from just across the line.
